This is driving me nuts. Have a wired connection for the 360 and can't seem to get it online. Tried running the connection test but it fails at the "Xbox live test" portion, after passing the rest. I tried customer service, but they couldn't solve the problem, and asked whether my modem is XBOX compatiable and I told her it was.

I live in an apartment block with shared BB network, and 3 other people are already on Xbox live, and they don't know why I cant.

Can anyone here give me any ideas as to what the problem could be?

anytime i failed the " connect to xbox live " part of the test it was due to my firewall settings on my eircom netopia modem/router .

who is your isp and what modem are you using ? and have a look here as it may help you out.

I had the exact same problem a few days ago after I got a new modem!!!

Go to 192.168.1.254 and click on "Expert Mode" on the left.

Then Click on "Configure" then "Connection" then scroll down to the bottom and you will see "UPnP" make sure the box is NOT clicked.

Then save changes and give the modem about a min to kick back on with the changes.

Having the same problem on my girlfriends Eircom BB (I use NTL). Don't think I can be bothered to try and change firewall settings:p

just go into the settings for the modem/router and there is a list on the left and click on firewall / then low / then hit save and your done.
