Does anyone know where you can download a WMV convertor for the 360 so I can transfer movie files onto my xbox 360 that does not take all year to convert???

TVersity allows you to convert and stream at the same time.

but to just convert files you can try this http://xbox360.qj.net/Xbox-360-Video-Encoder-Encode360-2-0b5-Cinephiles-rejoice/pg/49/aid/77428 was reading about it the other day but not sure how good it is

    I use TVersity, pretty good.
I got another program too called Cucusoft zune comvertor. This converts all video (DVD's too) straight to wmv......now I have only used it for my Zune but afaik there are settings for normal wmv's (i.e. not converting it to the Zune's resolution)

WMV has terrible encoding tools in that Window Movie maker is too simple and Windows Studio Encoder is too advanced.

Microsoft have been hanging around the Doom 9 forums lately asking feedback on format support for codecs other than WMV. It would be great if they did as you could then use far superior codecs like H.264 for compressing the movies.

But who knows when they will come through with support or if ever as Microsoft does not have any in house MPEG-4 ASP (XviD & friends) or MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) codecs of it's own.

If you want to convert straight into WMV right now the easiest tool I can think off is Xilisofts DVD to WMV converter. There are free methods but they are messy & complicated.

Though there are rumours Nero Recode will be getting WMV/VC-1 support at some stage as well which would be the best tool for the job but again no time frame on when.
