    Just got a new hp pavillion 9000. Got dvb tuner card with an arial etc and media centre edition of windows. when i try to go tune the channels in , i select my region as ireland it says that there are no supported channels. I also have like a IR reciever and a thingy for my IR bit for the sky box to record sky tv etc, but is there anyway to just tune in anologue channels using my ariel i got with it?

    Without knowing the specifications of the HP system it is not easy to say but it sounds like the system has only a DVB-T tuner of which there are no official broadcasters in Ireland at the moment.

    {There is currently an ongoing trial in the Dublin city area that can be picked up but only if you are in the broadcast limits of the trail which isn't very far I hear}

    If the tuner that came with the system is digital only then you have no means of getting current analogue broadcasts, you will need to get a tuner that supports those.

    Alternatively if the tuner in the HP system has a composite or s-video input you will be able to record the output from your providers set top box e.g Sky

    Edit: Found the spec's the tuner is DVB-T only it seems & does not come with composite or s-video inputs so it looks like you will need a new tuner to get anything.

    I cant see a Pavillion dv9020ea on HP's site there is 9019ea followed by a 9020tx and a 9022ea but no 9020ea as far as I can see anyway :confused:

    One thing in common is they all seem to use the Yuan EC300 DVB-T TV Tuner & can you identify it on the makers website the closest match to the EC300 model number is this PCMCIA card which is an analogue and DVB-T tuner allegedly.

    If that is the one there is a possibility that only the DVB-T portion is compliant with MCE as some cards are sold like that so the analogue portion will not function within MCE.

    All I can think of is make sure you download all the updates from Windows update use the custom section to make sure MCE is up to date. After that try it and see if it picks up anything.
