I presume Im a wuss for not betting. Just sat down to a few games and thats why the bet sizes totally suck!

I though for a while on the river but assumed i would get a call from a Qx flush chaser, J9 and a made flush.

So should i push based on that? I think other sets have pushed already and all but the nut flush too.

betting more is the obvious thing to do as i said in op.

the decision is the river. so bet there then? if so how much, and in this case where i have bet idiotic amounts, can i get away from a river push if im betting at least 1/2 pot on the river?

if i bet more on each street am i shoving the river?

200 flop, 400 turn push river. If your stack was bigger I might check the river, but only if I thought he may of been slowplaying something. Players will rarely just check call three times with a flush.

SB had 870 left on the river and pot was 1040 the only hand i was getting paid by was Qx i think. So i checked, and the knacker had AxQs and would have prob called a push.

You dont really need to worry about what he has, you just know when he checks three times you have him beat.

I think J9 could be played like this

not really, its a really really unlikey hand for him to have. First of all he would probably fold preflop, may fold the turn, and would almost certainly bet the river. Anyway you cant worry about the 1 hand he may have that beats you or you will never bet a river again
