Monitor staying in sleep mode

    Hey guys,
I have a Dell Dimension 4100( i think its a 4100 not too sure) and when I switch the machine on, it sounds like the machine is booting up as normal but the screen wont come on. The green light comes up on the monitor power button and then it flicks straight back to orange, as if it is in sleep mode.

I am getting no display on the screen except when I press the menu button on the monitor and the display comes up saying "Monitor in sleep mode, press any key or move the mouse to deactivate sleep mode" . Tried moving the mouse and pressing any button on the keyboard but the monitor will not come out of sleep mode.

I havent installed anything recently and my gfx driver is pretty up to date, the monitor is a Dell rebadged job and its only about a year old....any ideas?

Try unplugging the screen from the computer and trying the OSD again. Do you have another computer or screen that you can use for testing?

Naa, unfortunately I dont, when I unplug it from the PC, the test screen comes up (one white bar, one red bar, one blue bar and one green bar)

Try reseating your graphics card. Sounds like the card or the cable may be fubar.

Will do, as soon as I escape from this small grey cubicle.

    Cheers fey!

Yeah whay fay said could work.

You can rule out your monitor being dead. As the OS works.

But when you turn the machine on. So you hear any beeps at all? The bios beeps.

Ok, reseated the gfx card, still having the same problem,
    Getting no BIOS beep either...
    This is wrecking my head!
