Have widdled the masses down to these two sets:

    Panasonic Viera 32" LCD-TV TX-32LX60
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=319763

    and

    Samsung 32" LCD-TV LE32R74BD
    https://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=329559

Anyone have any opinions on the above? It's gonna be used for NTL, DVDs and xbox 360. I've seen a fair few total duds in the shops I've gone around and both those look very very good in situ.

    Cheers all,
    Quad

Samsung are good but for the sake of €100 (ish) I'd go for the Panasonic. That said I'm more of a plasma man myself.

I have the samsung, and I think it a fantastic tv.
With a bit of tweaking I got the SD crystal clear through scart(Sky Digital).
The 360 looks incredible on it, it has a specific game mode for using with the 360 which turns off all filters and image processing.
If you want to see just how good it looks with 360, go to a shop that has one connected up and put on Gears of War, you'll be speechless.

The samsung also has 1:1 pixel mapping on the vga port which allows it to be used as a monitor for your pc with crystal clear image, also is good for hooking up 360 by vga cable which sharpens up the image compared to component and gives more realistic colours (I still prefer the vivid colours from component though).
The panasonic on the other hand has no vga port and as far as i know can not do 1:1 pixel mapping on HDMI either.
The only benefit of the panasonic I can see is that it has 2 HDMI ports instead of the one on the samsung.
I heard that the panasonic can give a clearer SD pic but after setting up my samsung I don't see how it could get any better than this.

I was choosing between these 2 tv's when I was buying one also, and if I had to do it again I'd pick the samsung every time.

I have that panasonic and i must say i am very pleased with it.
i dont have a x box or any hd (yet) .
Sky gives a great picture if you are not sitting on top of the set.
It dosn't have a vga but as after_shock3000 points out it does have 2 hdmi ports.
not tried it as a monitor (dvi to hdmi) as pc is too far away,so can't comment on quality of picture.
I recon the only way to know is

    go by brand

compare the too side by side.

    Good luck
