I understand that on a TiVo there is a button you can press that skips ahead 3 minutes so that you can just skip over the adverts.
Is there anything similar on Sky Plus?

No. You just have to put up with pressing the Fast Forward button.

And at x30 speed, the fast forward isn't too painful, I feel.

You're obviously not as lazy as me ;)

You don`t have to just fast forward, you can skip forward the desired amount of time. When your watching a recorded programme and and ad break starts just press back up and it brigs you back to the planner screen with the programme you were watching highlighted. Press Select and it will tell you what time you left it when you last viewed and just type three or four minutes ahead and et voila bye bye ads and it takes less time then fast forwarding!:D

    I'll try that! Thanks ;)

The 6-8 seconds of fast forwarding is faster than doing your method I think, also some stations like the sky channels have longer ad breaks than the likes of RTE, not to mention tv3's 8 minute ad breaks!

I'm going to try wooo232's method. IMHO holding down the fast forward button is a PIA because you have to watch teh ads as they whiz by and (in my case anyway) usually overshoot and then end up seaching backwards for the start of the programme.

I don`t think it is! it is much quicker to just skip forward three or four minutes than fast forward especially as I almost always go too fast and end up having to rewind a bit too. And you get to know the length of ad breaks on each channel so you know how long to jump forward.
