Saw someone asking bout this here a few weeks back .Got this off eircom seems itd be preety hard to go over it .:D

How Xbox Live affects your download allowance

This will depend on the game and the amount of voice traffic going across that game, however on testing we have found that an average game with constant voice traffic can generate around 1Mbs of traffic on the download allowance. Over 10 hours of constant online Xbox gaming this would equate to 10 megabytes. Xbox live on its own should not dramatically affect a your download allowance.

Voice communication over Xbox live is compressed and this is why it doesn't have a huge affect on the download allowance. Downloadable content is separate to playing/voice online and allows the player to download extra levels or features for the game. This will still affect your download allowance as it does generate Internet traffic but as the content is downloaded just once and are then stored on the Xbox's hard drive, it wont cause any major impact on the download allowance.

only 1mb an hour? that;s great - it means if you leave it on for 24 hrs it's 24mb and in 30 days 720mb. that can't be right. xbox 360 uses the bandwidth of downloading a movie over the course of a month?

anyways if it does, that's great. and i am sure everybody has their bandwidth allowed more than that without extra cost

Unless you are constantly talking through out that whole hours worth of gaming I would expect that to be about right as there is not a whole lot of other data to be transmitted about the place. If you do an hour of video chat then it would be higher, but on average a meg sounds about right.

    Nope.

It's to do with the speed of the data traveling between points, not the quantity of the data.
