Allegedly starts at 7pm, but I doubt it will start before 8, especially as this is the first month it is on at 7. Last month there were 6500 chips, with I think 3x20 min levels, 5x30 min levels and the rest at 45 mins with no running antes. I have no idea if the structure is changing this month though.

We can expect a STT now that Ollieboy has confirmed his presence - only those who do not read boards and are unaware of his recent hot streak will be in attendance.

so any news on this then? I dodged it in favour of the SE but i did hear that yet again the structure was crap. All in or fold fest from c.25 players remaining? I fail to see how ppl continue to pay €270 for this structure of tourney?

I am disappointed the decent structure from last month was replaced especially with the earlier start time. A 6 way deal was done in the end that involved Denis Reyes (again), Paul Cryan, Teddy Hickson, Irene Tier, Brendan (I think, terrible with names, don't know his surname) and someone else I should really know the name of too. 3k each. Deals are inevitable in poorly srtuctured games.

Really dissapointed with this tournament. I had heard that there were improvements to the structure since the last time I had played:

Instead it was 6500 \\ 20mins for the first three levels and 25 mins thereafter. The clock did not revert to 30 mins until the start of the 1000 \ 2000 level - but it had become a push or fold fest long before that.

The Fitz put on a great 500 event two weeks ago and deserve credit for the structure on that one.

However, in my opinion the club is now running crapshoots on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday of each week - and the Thursday tournament changes structure on a two - weekly basis. The club has a commercial aspect to concentrate on, and I have to admit that a player like myself is not the main market that it is aiming for. From a players perspective though, I want to see good tournaments that give loads of play and bang for my buck. The SE have provided that with their excellent 200 + 20 monthly event (8000 chips \\ 4 30 min levels \\ 45 thereafter). Simialrly, the Jackpot is running two excellent events on a Tuesday and Friday of each week - plenty of play for reasonable buy - ins. A 250 + 20 tournament is a big thing, and that buy - in level there should be an effort by the Fitz to make it a good tournament.

Nobody's game will improve from playing crapshoots and if we want to see Irish players taking down big events in the future we need to have as many people as possible playing long clock events - and getting comfortable with them. During the working week this may not be achievable, but last Thursday night the majority of players did not have work to worry about in the morning; the tournament start time was pulled back an hour - and dinner was served at the tables so that the break was not too long. All in all, there was no excuse to have such a shallow structure. As such, in my view the Fitz took a deliberate decision to have a bad structure and fill up the cash games. Grand, as it is their perogative to run the venue as they see fit. However, they won't be getting my business in the forseeable future as there are plenty of other games for me to play in town that will offer a bit of play.

This is all my opinion - and I am sticking to it. End of rant.

The structure will be better next month, but worse the one after.........
