    Hey people,

I've trained in Shotokan for about 7 months in college, Shidokan (karate/bare knuckle/street fighting) over in Chicago for 4 months and a small bit of BJJ.

I'll be finishing college this year and I'm looking to start training at another club. I live around Templeogue but as far as I could find, there's nothing realy around here (or am I wrong?). Preferably a club that does a reasonable amount of sparring. I started at Shidokan where we sparred at nearly every session but at my current club, there is no sparring which I find a bit unfulfilling.

I'd like to start doing MMA but I don't really know where to start with that. I'd love to fight competitively. Are there many 'open' events held around the country for people without a huge amount of experience?

    Thanks,
    Conor.

Hi Conor. I train in an MMA gym down in East Wall. What we do is a mix of Kyokushin Karate and Judo into an all-round system. We do an even balance of traditional Kyokushin training and MMA sparring. Some of our guys have competed in MMA events in Ireland and Holland. Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fees are €45 per month with the first month free. Check out our websites for more info - www.mmaireland.com and forum.mmaireland.com or give Shane a call (his number is at the bottom of the main website).

    OSU,

    Dave.

I have already! I started training there on the back of this post just after new year.

Although I think the "get my ass kicked all the time 'cause I suck" period will probably last a while, it's a great bit of craic.

    Thanks again,
    Conor.

dont mean to hijack the thread, but not too sure if it warrants a new one either, just wondering if there are any clubs anywhere near the dun laoghaire area, im a complete beginner but an mma enthusiast (to watch) i was looking at judo, but not really that picky. or are most clubs more city center?

I'm not aware of any Judo clubs out that way. MMA in loughlinstown with Dave Jones' Next generation.
