Wii mods and add-on features

Wanted to start a thread to collate all the cool little freeware projects and extra features that are starting to pop up for the Wii (not talking about hacking/hard-modding, just software, downloads and stuff you can do with USBs).

Firstly there's Wii Video 9, which allows you to convert your videos to Wii-friendly formats, which you can then transfer via SD card and watch in the Photo Channel.

Another handy pointer that might come in handy is the fact that you can charge phones and ipods etc. via the USB plug, even when the Wii is in standby mode.

Any other things along these lines available that can expand the usefulness of the Wii? I'd love to know if there's a way to get USB devices like HDD's and keyboards working on the Wii (I'm sure there will be soon, official or otherwise)

    Wii Media Centre

Still in "Alpha" phase so some things don't work, and others not very well. Video is only flash and doesn't stream perfectly. Alot of the problems seem to be to do the Opera browser more than anything else.

    wii tabs

by going to this site (u have to register btw and don't worry its not full of email spam or anyhting) u can have tabs on the wii browser so u can look at more than 1 st at a time.

    wii portal

this is a portal for all **** wii related...instant messaging included

also to view videos on the wii convert with wii video 9, put on an sd card (or stream from pc) and play through the photo channel...

also banging a few mp3's on the sd card u can also listen to them in the slide show option on the photo channel.

The Wii converter just coneverts the media to .FLV for use with that Media centre or with an SD card. There are a fair few converters that encompass .FLV and most are fairly easy to use.
