I went to Praia das Maçãs (40 minutes on regular train from Lisbon) in September for two weeks. Popular with the Lisbonese (ers) (?)

Beautiful beach, near to Lisbon, near to Sintra, an hour from Cascais. Nice and rural but handy for day trips to Lisbon etc. Good selection of restaurants and no "all day breakfasts" thankfully. Very relaxing and laid back.

    We stayed at http://www.lisboncoastcottages.com/

I'm just back from Albureira/Montechero and loved it! Went with ryanair to Faro, stayed in the Forte de Ora Aparthotel. Great weather, nice and relaxed atmosphere etc. A really good place all in all, lookin to go back asap! :D

Just checked ryainair prices to faro and it was +/- €50 return. The apartment was about €45 per night.
