    hey, I am having a very strange problem with my Gmail account. It says Unusual Usage

    Well... are you??? Using something that interacts with it? Like maybe some kind of email retrieve software or messenger software?

    Do you have firefox and did you install greasemonkey? a 10 second internet search said that it can cuase the message. There may be other causes or it may just be a bug but you are not the only one to have the error.

    I do use Firefox, but I haven't installed Greasemonkey, or any other messanger thingy-ma-bob in the past long while, if ever.

    I do get it when I try to log in

    I had my Gmail account hacked by a spammer yesterday and its now disabled, permanently I think :-( I hope to hell they re-enable it. This is the second time in less than a month that it was taken over and used to send spam!!!

    Anyone know any Google poster's here on boards.ie that I could ask? I done nothing wrong and did not violate Google's terms and service. I really need to get my account back.

    I had the same problem a while back. Some Bollxx in China had hacked into my gmail account. It was closed for 24 hrs but access was restored no problem after then.
    The solution to stop this happening again is, when you get access back, open up your mail & scroll to the bottm of the inbox page.
    Click on 'Details', this opens up the 'Activity On This Account' window. Here you can see what ip address's your account has been accessed from. Logout of all other sessions and then change your password. This should solve the issue for you. It worked for me anyway.
    I was getting lots of spam that I hadn't sent bouncing back into my inbox. This has stopped now.
