Someone asked me the other week at a gig how much my guitar rig was worth in total... so that got me thinking... i decided to add up the total cost..

    Gibson SG €750
    '62 Telecaster €650
    Takamine G-series €390

    Microsynth €279
    MXR EQ €80
    Vibratrem €75
    Small Stone €70
    Small Clone €70
    Korg DT-10 €90
    Echo Park €160
    Digiverb €80
    Pedal Case €62
    Pedal Board €free
    DC Brick €110
    Cables ~€60
    ENGL Thunder 50 €759
Cases picks and accessories etc €200

    Grand Total: €3885 :o

Christ thats scary, i could actually own a car for that... thats not including my recording/bass/v-drum gear. Try it it'll freak you out how much GAS consumes you.

Or it might buy you one Les Paul in Waltons. Now that's a scary thought.

Definitely; the prices listed are average online prices, i only bought two things in my current rig in ireland, the DT-10, that was my dad, two days before xmas, no time for thomann, and a chrome slide that was priced incorrectly.

Jesus. I'm not even going to try, I know it's going to be something obscene.

Haha yeah, the price of a small house more than likely!

I'm terrified to add it all up. It must be pushing 10k though. Still, I look at it like being a Mechanic/Carpenter ... you must have excellent tools to do your job, right? RIGHT? (Help me justify it ...)

Karl Hungus, thinking about the cost of his rig:
    DrEvil%20_orig.JPG

I say my rig is quite modest, let's work it out using current Thomann or Sounds Live prices.

    Epiphone Les Paul Custom €589
with Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge €75*
    Ashdown Fallen Angel 60W 2x12" combo €535*
    Roland Microcube €99
    Warwick Streamer Standard €1000*
    Trace Elliot Boxer 65 €100*
    Boss TU-2 tuner €89
    Boss DD-6 delay €149
    Boss BF-3 flanger €115
    Boss PS-5 SuperShifter €199
    Boss CS-3 compressor €71
ProCo You Dirty Rat distortion €105
    EHX Holy Grail reverb €89
    Ebow Plus €89

Giving a grand total of: €3304. Although bear in mind I didn't pay full whack for most of these items. Plus all I could find were Warwick Rockbass Streamer Standards which were far too low a price so I've no idea what the Warwick Streamer was worth (I got it as a deal with the Trace Elliot).

*couldn't find exact model/discontinued so an approximation

Oooh, current Thomann prices? Hmm, time to redo mine. Be right back ;)

    Update:

Coming out at €6726. That said, I had to subsitute a PRS for my Eggle, an EC-1000 for my Edwards and a Fender for my Fujigen. Even though, DAMN, that's a lot of gear

Well I went for current Thomann prices for handiness' sake.

    Yeah, something like that! :p

I'd say between the ENGL, Stealth and few Ibanezes I'd have nearly 5 grand.

It's not the cost that matters but the fun you have playing with it.

Now there's some sense. I certainly get my moneys worth of fun out of it all. :)

That's the important part. I've easily gotten my money's worth out of my gear.

Along side sentiments like that, which are dead true, another thing i can say is that my rig might have cost me a good bit, but it would cost some people twice as much to buy the same stuff.

cost of main guitar and 2 amps
    560 for gretschalike import hollowbody
    200 for valve amp head
    100 for cab speakers
    250 for practice amp

    €1100

and there's a homemade guitar too that cost more in parts and tools than i care to think about, plus a few cheap beaters and, uhh, 3 pedals.

probably about 2300 altogether. i can live with that.
