Ok, sister wants to get a laptop for assignments and general entertainment purposes, movies etc, with a budget of E500.
It just needs to run things like webcams, adobe acrobat, lyceum, java, flash etc. It's an open university course that she is doing, pretty basic programs but well obviously she would like the best laptop she can get for that price.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated,
    thanks.

I reckon honestly EBAY is a good bet for a cheap laptop. I mean u just want a basic nice runner and I have been exhaustively searching ebay the last few weeks for a kickass pc, but they have some good laptop deals.
There is always the PC world sale but I reckon for that kind of spec buying 2nd hand or reconditioned will get u the best value for money.

Give Dell.ie a try maybe, they have some very basic laptops available for around the 500 euron mark.

For 500, when you say 'best laptop for that price', you really mean 'only laptop for that price', because 500 will only get you the cheapest models available. Which, though, would be perfectly fine for her needs.

Dell or PC World both have laptops starting around 479.
