iTunes lock icon

    Have recently acquired a new iPod and I cant select and drag files from library into the device list. I get a little black circle with a line through it when I try to drag them.

    When I select sync it copies all my files into the ipod, which Im grateful for otherwise it would have no music. But when you open the ipod all the files are grayed out and theres a small lock icon on the left hand side of the bottom bar (where it says used space/dree space). So i can sync all music onto it but i cant select certain songs not to be inclused and cant make any playlists. I have a feeling this lock shouldnt be there and thats whats causing the problem...

    Im sure its only something simple i have to do to fix this...has anyone encountered this?? Please help!!

    The device is set up so that it automatically syncs with the itunes library. The

    best thing to do is to set manual transfer of files in the ipod options folders.
