just seeing what places people would recommend going to for classes in Dublin for ACCA exams?

i thought that DBS would have been the main one but ive heard that BPP is a very good one although i dont know an awful lot about BPP. ive checked the website but id like to hear from people who might have gone there or know people that did.

thanks in advance for any feedback

From what I heard, people have put them in this order,1. BPP, 2. GCD, 3. DBS.

yeah ive heard of bpp but cant say i know a lot about it.

how many subjects do people generally do at one time?

    Generally 2 every 6 months.

If you don't get any exemptions, you could easily do 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3 together.

yeah i thought that two would have been the general amount to study at once.

just looking there, bpp seem to have loads of study materials so they obviously have some expertise. dont know of anyone that went there though

Anyone whom I've spoken to about the place highly recommends it.

does the trainee chose where to go to the classes or does the employer insist on where you are to go?

I've never actually heard of an employer dictating where a student goes so it's up to you really.

I studied with BPP in Lad Lane and can highly recommend them. The lectuers seem to know alot, not just this stupid approach of reading the text book.

The lecturers have from my experience a good approach to teaching and preparing for the exams.

If you do and study as they say then you ll pass your exams no bother.

Normally classes where held in Jurys in Ballsbridge, nice in comfortable.

I passed my exams this time last year, thank god.

I would do two at a time. Although for my finals I done four. Three core + auditing.

I hear mixed reviews about DBS and have heard nothing about GCD.

what does bpp actually stand for?

for the ACCA they have about 200 euro worth of study material per subject.would employers pay that much for material on your behalf?

My employer paid for half the fees up front for my first time of sitting each subject and paid the other half when I past the exam. Great feeling passing the exams and getting a wade of cash back.

If you sit them a second time you pay for them yourself though.

I went to Griffith College for my Acca lectures as I was travelling up from the country for the lectures on the old scheme from paper 2.5 onwards. I went to DBS for 2.3 while living in Dublin which was the 1st tax paper with Julie Hawkins and if she is still lecturing on the 1st tax paper in the new scheme in Dublin Business School, you should go to her for that paper as she is simply the best lecturer I ever had - (tax or otherwise) and thats after doing the tax exams. Eamon Staunton was also quite good for the second tax paper in Griffith College. I mainly went to Griffith College for the parking but I have heard that BBP are very good although at the time, the lectures were in Lad lane and there was poor parking.

Used to be a publishing company called Brent,Prierley,Price which published business related books years ago which evolved into BPP as far as I know. You can go in the main front door to reception who are friendly and will allow you llok around and answer any questions you may have.

Parking is an absolute nightmare in BPP but the lectures are good. Classes are normally full so get there early. Dave Ahern in BPP is v good.

    thanks for all the help.

what are the classes like by the way? is it enough to be there and take a reasonable amount of notes or is it a few hours of very intensive cramming?
