    Hi,

I have been looking for some help with setting up my sky system and this site was really useful (I found out how to manually look for channels)... but I still am stuck...

My friends gave me their old sky digital box and satellite dish (they used to use this for their sky subscription). I ordered a sky freesat card and rang sky to get it activated.

After a day we had the full listings in the TV Guide, most radio channels (except radio 1), Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky 3 and lots of other shopping & commercial channels.
THE PROBLEM is that we dont get any of the following channels: BBC (1,2,3,news), ITV (1,2,3), or Film4. When I select one of these channels it says "No satellite signal being received"

I have also tried to manually find the channels using the ADD CHANNEL option (as instructed on this site) but again I get the message "No satellite signal being received"

I rang sky and they said that it must be a problem with the box or dish. But it worked fine for our friends.

I have a couple of ideas. Could these be a cause?:
    - a fuse blew during the update and cut power to the box
    - our friends had the box set up and working in the Oxford region. But I dont live in Oxford (TV Guide list says BBC North West and ITV Granada)
    - we were a little impatient and checked often during the first hours of activating

    Thanks in advance
    Sarah

It could be alignment. Or LNB rotation in it's holder.

It also could be an LNB fault ( The part at end of Dish arm).

Only Channel4, Five, Five US, Five Live, Sky3 use the viewing card.
