Just a heads up for anyone who might need to know, the Diabetic Federation of Ireland with ERM offer motor insurance, you need to be a member. Eagle-Star also do insurance without requiring any medical reports.

Nice one Mr. 65, and a happy christmas and new year to you and yours. I'm having a nightmare trying to get a medical for my driving license - my doc has to get my records out of archives, it's taking forever. I said I'd go for a checkup but thats "not how we do it".

The insurance didn't actually seem to care too much about the diabetes for my bike insurance. They did want a letter from the GP initially but that made no difference to the quote that I had already been given and they have never asked for anything more since then. Becasue I'm using my UK license still for driving though I have to get that renewed every three years but I'm not sure that they even contact the hospital either.

Same here. I'm with FBD, and they asked for a doctor's letter, but the price remained the same.

I've been with Quinn Direct & FBD. Neither wanted a doctors report and neither increased the price.

Hibernian did ask for a doctors report but they also did not increase the price.

Sounds like the message is getting through. Once they took an arm - and a leg for good measure.
