Qued up this morning at Smyths in blanch at 8.45AM, got myself a Wii and Red Steel. Only got Red Steel because they had no Zelda (they were only selling bundles - i got Wii, €10 vouchers & Red Steel for 320).

Set it up there, playing Wii sports for the last 2 hours, great game. I'd like more of the same.

What are the best games for using the motion? When i was choosing a game, none of them seemed like they could use it well, giving the genre (car games?!).

Is Wii play just like the sports?

Play is more on the lines of using the Wiimote in all the different areas.
Each game uses a different feature in the Wiimote.
It's by no means as in depth as sports but it's still worth the pick up with the free Wiimote.
