I would probably bet the river but here I would probably just call, opponent could be on missed flush draw, I think the only that has you beat that he could be holding is a poorly played weak queen or he jammed two pair.
The way he played the hand from the button seems to think that he doesnt have a lot.

If he has a legitimate hand, he may have put you on a flush draw and is hoping that you will bluff the river to his check (poor play imo, but common).

I just saw this on a thread, disagreed with it, thought the above hand was a good example.

Letting someone bluff a missed draw is by no means poor play. A value bet wont get paid, so the only way of getting any more money in the pot is checking to induce a bluff. I thought that was pretty basic especially against an aggressive opponent.
