AIB Online Banking - New Rate question?

My current account for AIB in my online banking has a line saying "New rate 12.200%"

Can anyone advise what that rate refers to?

AIB Cust Care tell me it's just an information line which doesn't effect my account - that's grand. But what interest rate is this that it refers to? Excuse my apparently stupid question.

I don't have an overdraft. And it's a student account.

All current accounts are capable of going overdrawn. Hence the rate is advised. I would imageine that they have to do this as all customers should be aware of the rate if they did.

So I can just go and withdraw more than I have in my account, without anyone clearing it with me first? And I'll be charged 12.2% on everything I take out? Or ?

It's an advisory that the overdraft rate has changed. It doesn't imply that you have one or can use one !
