Does the play and charge kit mean you have to have the xbox 360 turned on for a constant 6 hours for to charge your controller?

Or can you just charge the controller for a coule of hours while you're playing a game and turn off your console and come back again and just recharge it while youre playing.

It doesn't need to be charging non stop for six hours does it?
    thats my question.

They charge when the console is turned off (but plugged in) and you can also charge them from a PC.

Its not really turned off though then its technically in standby mode.

Is it possible to just charge while you're playing rather than leaving the xbox 360 on or plugged in on standby for 6 hours non stop?

would doing so be bad for the battery?

Yeah that would not be great for the battery.

Oh and it is turned off, kinda given away by the fact that it says 'turn off console' in the options.
Its as turned off as anything can get without being unplugged.
