rebuy sat into rebuy sat

So I put up $10 last night, didn't have to rebuy and won entry to another super-satellite (2 Jan) on ppp for the IPC. The entry for the super satellite is $100 + $5. There are 44 qualifiers so far, so I would expect that there will be a good lot more, including a few direct buy ins. Let's say there will be about 100? So there will be at least 5 IPC entries available (at about $1900 each)... probably more allowing for rebuys.

That's the thing though, the super satellite is a rebuy tournament. So my prize could end up costing me a big multiple of the $10 I originally invested. I'd be interested in contributors advice...
    • Up to what level is it worth rebuying in this type of tournament?
    • What might I expect other players to do in terms of rebuying given that most of them will also only have invested one or a few tenners to get that far?
    • Any views on the level of play I might expect... last night there were quite a few obviously poor players
    • Any general advice on play in a super satellite where at least 1/19 of the starters will get the same prize?

Generally there aren't too many rebuys in these tourneys (based on the $198 rebuy sats). Standard will be very poor if its the same heads from Irish Open sats. How many rebuy's is entirely up to your bankroll. Spending more than $500 is silly.

I'd be intending one rebuy max... and then only if it is still fairly early on. Getting 2,000 chips when the blinds are 50/100 would not seem like a good investment.

If you're not gonna rebuy when the blinds are 50/100 you should rebuy after the first hand and treat it like a FO. An option of a top up will be available after 4 levels too. Very bad value IMO.

You can only rebuy when you are out of chips... the top up probably comes after an hour so about level 5. Deciding whether or not to take a top up is a separate matter anyway.

What's bad value? Or more specifically, when is a rebuy bad value?
