    Hi there,

I am running XP Pro with IE7 (version 7.0.5346.5) and since yesterday, everytime I reboot my PC I have Automatic Updates installing IE7 for Windows XP (which I already have). So I go ahead and install it but it doesn't matter, if I reboot it will want to install it again and again...

Anybody else having this annoying problem? How do I fix it?

Furthermore, everytime I open a new IE window, the default home page is "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=54834" which then opens "http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx". I've changed the home page in the Internet Options but no matter, every new window will try accessing this runonce.msn.com url... Any advice?

Thank you in advance for your help! ;)

I use IE7 and the new Firefox side by side. Both have their good points. I would not bother doing th updates for while until MS sort out the problems. Use Firefox in the meantime. Just to clarify I am not a firefox nazi.

I have Firefox at home but I'm having these problems in work... As a result, I can't turn off Automatic Updates and I don't want to bother our IS department for these ****ty little problems...

    Morning,

I beleive this is from having IE 7 Dled and installed before the official release of IE 7, I had the problem on some PCs in work. I just left it alone for a while and it seemed to fix itself
Furthermore, everytime I open a new IE window, the default home page is "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=54834" which then opens "http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx". This is the default page when IE7 starts that gives you the option to switch on "Auto Phishing blocking" etc if you click on the options and accept it should then give you the option to save settings and choose your homepage.

You can also go into tools and switch them on and off but IE seems to prefer to have them switched on from the get go :)

If you REALLY want to get rid of IE 7 from your update list let me know and Ill find out for you.
