Aggressively moving up the levels

I threw $500 on gjp the last night, hoping to grind up to 1/2 quickly.

    Atm I'm multi-tabling .10/.20.

My plan is to add tables from the higher limit as my br increase, i.e once I have 20 buyins at my present level and four buyins for the next level I change one table to the higher limit, eight play two, 10 play 3. anything over that I move fully up and start the process all over again. If my br goes backwards I move back at the same rate I moved up.

    Sound like a plan?

    up $200 3 tabling .10/.20 for 2 nights, i run gooot

That should work up to .50/1, but after that I would increase the fallback level to 30 buyins at least, seeing as you are multitabling.

I didn't think multi-tabling had any influence on the number of buyins you should have ?

Yeah it does. You should never have more than 10% of your roll in play. Say you have a 2k roll and are 6-tabling 100NL, thats over 25% of your roll, which is not good.

I have never heard that before , surely from a purely variance point of view it makes no difference ?

It doesn't make any difference. Ultra conservative would be not to have more than 5% on any one table. Multitabling makes no difference. Remember Reggie is a worker now not a poker player, he is bound to get things wrong due to workplace stress.

You should keep in mind that if you triple up you have a much bigger % of your roll in play at one table and should consider leaving.

A better way of aggressive bankroll management is to take one shot at a few levels above as long as it leaves you with enough to play your chosen level if you lose it. This allows you to get up the levels quickly if you have a good run but it is high variance and risky.

For example, you are comfortable at .5/1 with 2k but you have 3k at the moment. Take a trip to 5/10 with 1k and double up - you are now rolled for 1/2. Not for the faint hearted but it has worked for a few people I know including myself.

If you are prone to tilt has influence. You can tilt off much less at 1 table than at 4.

on the lower stakes on tribecca you can buyin for 200bbs. So should my bankroll be 20 standard 100bb buyins or 20 of the actual buy-ins?

    20 X 100BB is more than enough.

I thought that would be a given?

I was just trying to say in a convoluted way that buying in for 200BBs opposed to 100BBs should affect your bankroll management. But I wouldn't bother 20 200BBs buyins. If you did that the BR for .50c would be the same as $1 on Tribeca.
