I have 1 x 1gig Pc3200 400mhz and 1 x 512mb Pc2100 266mhz. What I want to know is that is it worth using the two of them and changing the setting to 266mhz or just use the 1gig on its own at 400mhz. Would i be losing too much dropping the 1gig down to 266mhz?

    Cheers

    AL.

i would wonder if the mix 'n' match RAM will be stable ... i've had bad experiences before with random lockups and crashes on machines with badly matched RAM

what operating system / applications do you plan on using ?

i think 1 gb is meaty enough for all but the most demanding apps ...

personally i would begrudge having 400 Mhz stick running at 266 ... even if you don't notice it ... it would still bother me

could you trade the lower spec RAM, and maybe match up at a later stage ?

Yeah, thanks trout. It would be a killer for me to run the 1gb slower too. But at the same time it is a killer not using the 512mb. I'll stick with the 1gb for now anyway.
