What parts do you want to upgrade? Optical and hard drives shouldn't be a problem, if you are taking graphics cards then it can be difficult.

I gave up trying to upgrade the graphics on my laptop :( RAM etc wouldn't have been a problem but graphics...another story altogether.

If you have to ask, the answer's no :)

I know enough to know that I would not want to try it.

RAM's fine, hard disk's fine usually, optical drive... if you're lucky, after that not a hope.
