It seems Keeney's plans to build a Tesco supermarket and shopping centre down at Magee's factory has gotten the go ahead.

I wonder will it go ahead now, or can there be further objections...

I have been told unofficially today that the Bennett Dunnes Stores plan at the Mullans is now being scrapped. As to whether this comment was true I don't know, so don't take it as gospel! It's as yet not concrete fact!:)

Good news indeed but there is still that dreaded 4 week appeal period before anyone can say for sure.

Listening to Ocean FM momentarily today, it seems that the Bennett/Dunnes Stores at the Mullans had its application rejected.

As for 1,000 more Polish people, sure why not? The town is booming!

Yup. Tis a poor state of affairs. Did house prices get any cheaper in Donegal Town? As last time I checked, it was still cheaper to buy a house in Letterkenny. Though that's probably more down to the sheer amount of houses being thrown up in LY left, right and centre!

With the increase in commission paid for bannings since 1st January it pays me to have multiple short term bans rather than 1 permanent ban. I hope Srameen comes back in 2 months and continues to be a muppet ;)

Now back to the topic at hand. I think this planning decision has been appealed to An Bord Pleanala which will mean at least another 4 month wait for a final decision

There is an appeal listed here

and there is another listing here

Anyone not familiar with An Bord Pleanala website - just scroll down the page - the Council decisions that are being appealed are listed in alphabetical order (by name of Council)

Edit: There is a refusal listed here for Bennet Construction

How many guesses would we need to discover who appealed it? I bet Sean McEniff will be watching the outcome with great interest, given what he has proposed regarding An Bord Pleanala.

It's getting a bit ridiculous at this stage.

Was there not one of them quoted in some of the local papers recently as saying that they NEVER EVER objected/appealed a decision on permission that was granted to the other.

I clicked on the link, but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

Is this in Donegal town where Tesco have obtained permission to build a store?

    Donegal Town it is.

This store will be a big boost to the people of the SW area (as well as the employment for the Donegal Town area) as the nearest Tesco/Dunnes is Letterkenny or Sligo.
