Can anyone tell me at what time the traffic around the Airport gets bad these mornings???

Am picking up someone on 22nd at around 7.30 and wondering how much time to give myself coming from north of the airport.

    Any advice appreciated! :)

And any other tips appreciated too. I'm an Airport Virgin!!! ;)

Traffic within the vicinity of the airport is heaviest around 5am/6am but then eases off slightly. If your on the M1, it may be heavy for the last few kms but should be moving.

19:30 or 17:30? Traffic at 17:30 is heavier.

Tip for saving a few quid. Park in Kealeys pub and get your passengers to ring you once they've collected their bags. Then arrange to pick them up at the departures setdown area. Don't leave your car or hang around to long though or you'll be clamped.

Dohhh. :o 7:30 AM Wishbones spot on with the traffic report. 5-6AM is very heavy.

Jaysus!!! there goes my plan of going early to avoid the traffic!

I've been advised to "get in the middle lane" or I'll end up in Santry!!! Is signposting easy to follow, ie. idiot-proof?!!!

As you approach the main airport roundabout from the M1, you need to be in the left or middle lane. (There is another cordoned off slip road to the far left but that is for Santry). The right lane is for Swords. Traffic to the terminal is via a two lane/one way system.

At the next roundabout at Corballis House (old building with red door) you have two choices:

    1. Left or middle lane to go up to departures....or
    2. Middle or right lane for short term car park.

I generally pick passengers up in departures to save time and parking fees. I agree with Dingatron. Park up near the airport and wait for a call. I usually park in the Esso filling station within the airport - you won't be bothered there as it's always busy with cars coming and going.

The airport is like a big circle. If you make a mistake just keep going and you will come back to where you started. If you don't feel confident just follow the signs straight to the short term car parks (€3 per hour - €1.50 for first half hour).

Take your time - it's all well signposted.

    That's brilliant! :D

    Thanks a mill Wishbone Ash!

Why isn't there a website somewhere with detailed maps of motorways roundabouts, lanes etc. for neurotics like me who get in a panic about going some new route for the first time!

Have discovered the RAC route planner. It's brilliant! :D

Won't be bothering with the AA one again.

One thing I forgot to say sudzs - there is a lot of construction work going on at the rear of the multi-storey short term car park (new bus and coach park being laid out). You will probably be directed towards Block C which is furthest from the terminal (5 minutes walk). The entrance to Blocks A and B are closed. ;)

Change of plan though.... flight delayed till 10.00

Will I have a nervous breakdown in savage traffic now????
