    Hi,

I'm looking for a film that my dad and nana watched about 30 years ago and they've been searching for it since. If anyone recognises the plot etc could you please please let me know the name of it!! It was on around christmas time 30 years ago apparently!

It starts off with a man working as a bank clerk with a young loving family and he's a wonderful father and husband. He gets promoted, goes on a train waving goodbye to his family. On the train there is some kind of accident and a tramp robs his watch and clothes and is then killed and the family think that it was their husband/father. The man wakes up with amnesia and wanders around as a tramp for a few decades but eventually ends up back in his home town. He is standing outside his old family home looking in the window at his now grown up family and aging wife, its snowing and its christmas time. His son comes out of the houe and sees the old man standing there and says "are you alright pops?" which is what the boy called him when he was younger. The man nods his head, says he's fine and walks away. Neither of them recognise each other and the film ends.

I am desperate to find this film but its so hard when you don't know even what actors were in it. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Paula

The Way Of All Flesh. Originally made in 1927 and remade in 1940. The 1927 version is almost completely lost however. Only 2 seconds of it have survived. So I assume it's the 1940 version. AFAIK it's only available on VHS.

    Here's the imdb page:
