I am looking for a good popcorn muncher tonight and I have narrowed it down to those two films. I have seen neither, but want to see both. I am leaning more towards Commando, but which would you suggest?

I simply can't believe you've never seen Commando. (There's your answer btw)

Commando! Commando! Commando! How can you not have seen this yet?

    "Let off some steam, Bennett!"

    lol there's my answer indeed.

I have not seen Van Damme in anything yet and wanted to see what he was like, also I am just off a big Rocky buzz and would like to see Dolph Lundgren in something else. But Commando it is

Its like comparing chalk and cheese.

Universal Soldier is clearly the superior film.

Dolph and Van Damme are pretty good in it. Interesting yarn too.

Commando is hilariously entertaining, Universal Soldier is just plain entertaining.

If you are looking for just a plain good action film though, despite common belief Commando is not actually up to much in the action stakes unless you enjoy watching a semi-naked man strolling across a lawn battling what looks like an entire third world army, their said origin naturally rendering them inaccurate at even the closest of ranges, for anything other then humourous purposes.

Everyone should see Commando at least once though.

God forbid I never thought I'd have to say anything of the sort but Commando is essentially an even further dumbed down version of Rambo.

Universal Soldier is a seriously class film though. Just don't make the mistake of ever bothering to watch Universal Soldier 2 and 3.

Have a double header. But if you have pick one Commando is the only choice!

'Freddy Mercury on steriods' is just a hilarious foe for Arnie's delicious punnary & blood-lust combo.

Sometimes I like to watch it from the POV that Arnie is an abusive father. Freddy works for child-protection services and is merely rescuing Arnies daughter from the terminators evil lair. Arnie blows a fuse at the gaul of social services and goes on an unjustified murder-spree to get even against state interference.

Yeah I sometimes get bored with plot and like to make up my own movies....

well unfortunatly when I got to the video store they had neither. Commando was out and they just didn't have Universal Soldier period. However I found a diamond in the rough: both Hot Shots films in the one, fantastic, unfortunatly both were censored to PG, still fantastic tho

well I finally watched Commando, what a film. The only thing I didn't like was all the refrences to The Terminator

I remember the first time I saw Commando. Was at home on my own, about to goto bed when I flicked through the movie channels, saw it listed and thought "Hm, I've never heard of that, I'll give it a go!" Good film, really like it. One of the only films I'd watch on DVD again and again.

Or Red Scorpion for his take on Rambo III.

Damm hard to choose either one as both good mindless entertainment type movies. The Arnie fan in me wins out tho.

As has been said avoid the Universal Soldier sequals like the plague tho lol.
