    What wattage are they?

They have 11watt GE brand CFLs for sale in B&Q for €1.48 each but this is the only wattage they offer at this price, are they offering a higher wattage bulb than this?

All wattage equivalent 40 60 75 and 100 screw in and the ones with the bits on the side bayonet I think:confused: .

The only ones they didnt have is the tiny little ones.

Cheers gonker, that's a good deal so, will check it out later today, I picked up a good few of the 11watt CFLs in B&Q but really wanted them at a higher wattage, much more useful, merry christmas.

I hope to drop into Homebase and buy some too. I have a few Philips CFL's already, and think they're good. A few more wouldn't go amiss at that price.

Anyone know if this offer is available in Homebase Longford? And if so is there any stock left? Will be paying a flying visit to Longford tomorrow am and would love to pick up some...

Picked up a good few bulbs yesterday afternoon in Homebase Nutgrove branch Dublin, they had a lot left mid afternoon when I was there at least a couple of hundred bulbs, all types were available (all bayonet fit only though) they had 8w, 11w, 14w,and 18w, basically covering the range from incandescent 40 watt to 100 watt, no idea how long the offer lasts it didn't mention on the display stand.

The Texaco garage in Newbridge is also selling Philips CFL bulbs for just €2 each in a bargain bin!

Large bin is full of them :)

Nice to see the €0.50 PRF per bulb included too.

    So that's probably:
    €0.82 - bulb
    €0.18 - vat
    €0.50 - PRF

    or........
    €0.82 - bulb
    €0.68 - TAX  .

83% TAX on an energy saving, environmentally friendly alternative (last 6 times longer, 80% energy saving) to regular tungsten bulbs.

We are ripped off  .

    Still, good bargain @ €1.50 each though :D .

They musn't be too energy consious in Longford, as the dispaly in Homebase there looked like it hadn't been touched! :D:D

Got 6x18watt BC bulbs was disappointed that they weren't the enclosed type bulbs, (guess there is no pleasing me!) but decided that they would be fine in my uplighers, only to find that they are too long to fit in the cheap Dunnes Stores uplighter shades in all our bedrooms!

    So now for plan B....

p.s. also no ses fittings available...

Was just about to post this as a bargain but I see I have been well beaten to it:)

Just picked up some 18watt and 11 watt Philips CFLs for my Dad in Homebase (Gulliver Retail Park in Ballymun) still plenty on display, 2.99 BOGOF (buy one get one free:) ) so 1.50 each. Bought 2 in Tesco before xmas at 6.99 a piece! I was doing my bit for the enviornment!

@ 1.50 a piece and they do last much longer than ordinary bulbs they are great value.

As the previous poster pointed out the 18watt bults are quite long, the the 60 watt are a lot more more compact.

Over in London they were down to £2.99 for three Osram 21W bulbs - sorry can't remember which hardware chain that was in, but it shows that they aren't that expensive even with good brands.

Anyone know of decent priced screw in CFL's ?
As the price on them is like dialysis.

Homebase in Ballymun had both Bayonet and Screw in the 11w, I had to put back a screw type and get a bayonet, not sure about the 18w.
