Folks think about moving back to Ireland with my wife, and I was wondering what pay scale would a doctor "paediatrician" be on, Hostipal and private practice.

    Thanks for your help

The pay is certainly better in Ireland - you're talking at least a straight dollar to euro conversion and then up to 20% on top of that depending on your position. The cost of living is up to 300% higher than some places in the US (where I am for instance). I know Florida varies alot but I'd expect where you are to be cheap enough.

    Whats grade are you?

    House officer?
    Resident?
    Consultant?

Also remember that there is a lot of demand for consultant jobs, people leave once finished their training to do fellowships in other countries such as the USA and end up finishing their fellowships and working as consultants there for years waiting for a job back in ireland as there are so few jobs here.

mate, im a hospital paediatrics SHO in the UK. I've been thinking about coming home to ireland for a bit, and found the pay scales on the imo (irish medical organisation)website. The pay is decent, but a lot of it seems to be dependent on overtime (ie the basic is rubbish). Now the working time directive comes into force in ireland pretty soon. I think its next august, which will greatly restrict the hours worked, so presumably that will impinge a lot on pay.
