Injury Evidence

"feet were more likely to have caused serious injuries than blunt or sharp objects or fists"

"The main problem appears to be that people (usually men) get into a drunken fight, one of the group will then fall, due to alcohol intoxication, and the others will give him a sound kicking."
People here have been saying for a while that avoiding getting into this kind of situation is the best course. Any other recommendations for these types of situations?

    good advice in the article...
My advice is to not go out drinking with the type of people who’ll kick you when you’re down

yep I agree. Steer clear of boozed up nights out and places where idiots tend to gather. It really is easier than it sounds.

Try leaving the pub/club a half hour before closing. You'll avoid the crowd and get a taxi a lot quicker.

I read once that the two most common causes of severe injury and death in fights were
1 The victims head hitting the ground esp an unyielding surface like a pavement or kerbstone
2 Kicks to the head esp stamping type kicks where the victims head was unable to move away from the kick

    Paxo

How on earth are you meant to play scavenger game then!? Yes I know the obvious answer is to pull earlier in the night but if it comes to it do you honestly want to get caught out?

As a lot of peoples very big mate I can assure you it will not help. Why? The whole "take out the big guy first" mentality.

Besides, us larger chaps are gentle creatures, and while you smaller humans roll around on the ground, being manly and such, we are tracking the ever elusive last pint!

Thats exactly why you want the big mate. Gives the smaller ones (me) a chance to get away!
