The last time I saw or had Bass was in San Diego about three years ago. I wouldn't mind trying it again as I can't remember what it tasted like, but I also can't recall seeing it in any pubs here (of course I haven't been in to Fagan's in Drumcondra).

I really like it as a British cask ale, but had the cans recently and was not enamoured.

The bottles are popping up in a few pubs these days.
When I was in Wales last year there was a major push for the cask conditioned version. Quite nice. Nothing too complex. The bottles are something similair.
The cans used to be branded as 'Bass Beer', not 'pale ale', or even 'ale'. They were watered down and metallic tasting. This was before last year's 're-branding', and I've not tried the can since.

It is an easy going, pretty low (<4%), session beer. Nothing to write home about, no explosion of taste or hops. But that's what they are aiming for, I guess.

I had a pint in the pub opposite the International Bar a few months ago. Wasn't very impressed at all. I suppose I had been indulging in some fairly heavily hopped IPA's around that time and found it a bit insipid as a result. I'm always wary of when I see it on tap (with the exception of Fagan's in Drumcondra, of course) because I don't think the demend is very great and the beer is likely far from its best.

Wasn’t our esteemed Taoiseach quoted in the 80’s stating he could drink a gallon of bass and safely drive home, amazing he could find the time considering he had all those blank cheques to sign!!

Maybe he signed them in the pub :D

i drink guinness normally but whenever i am in a pub that sells bass ill drink it because i love it, there is a great cut off it, i know of only a few pubs that sell it, the edenmore house in raheny, peggy kellys in harolds cross and of course fagans in drumcondra, its a pity its not more widely available

Just opened my first can of it. Not too bad, wasn't expecting much from it for 98c, but I could happily drink away at it I think. I was a bit confused about whether it was ale or lager due to the can.

Its like if {insert generic lager name here} did an ale, this is what it would taste like.

I thought the same ... bland enough but at least its a change from lager types. been drinking coopers aple ale over the festive ...my christmas pressie mmmmmmm
