What is the best thing to put on a damp wall to treat it, have put humidifer into the room now the air is much better, but I want to put something on the plastered wall where the damp was, also a little musty smell I want to get rid off, something easy to brush onto the wall, Thanks

OP - You would be better off eliminating the source of the dampness for a start. Is it an interior or exterior wall? Do you have any idea where the moisture is coming from?
