If youve got a wireless rotuer it will pick it up automatically.

nope it should be able to pick up the access point and then all you need to do is enter the Encryption Key through the Wii Setup screen. Should take less than 5 mins to setup and then your away. Thats some tease by the GF man. 1 hour and locked away. Don't think I could handle it.

Just keep in mind that the Wii only works on 802.11b so make sure your router isn't set to just 802.11g

I know the DS only works over 802.11b, but I thought the Wii was 802.11b/g?

Nope... just 802.11b apparently. I've found it tends to have better range and get through walls better than 802.11g, so maybe that's what they've been going for.

well the only difference between the two that I recall is that G has on the fly compression of data before sending.

I'm pretty sure it connects with 802.11g. If it connects with 802.11b, it should force a network back to 11Mbits/s.

I was connected with both my laptop and Wii to the same access point and the laptop was connected at 54Mbits/s.

    I stand corrected.

It has a Mitsumi DWM-W004 WiFi 802.11b/g wireless module inside it apparently.

I'm sure I've read reviews saying they've had trouble connecting to 802.11g networks though.
