Odd - just today I changed over from using a coat hanger (really!) to using rabbit ears and the signal strength is excellent here in Stillorgan. I had to fully extend the rabbit ears, put them in parallel and twist them clockwise until the signal strength reached its maximum. Are you not getting even a sliver of reception?

Burn the rabbit and and get a real aerial in attic or outdoor. Or the mini-UHF yagi set-top aerial (black plastic with wide strip aerial, small reflector and about 3 director rods.) in room or attic.

I'm using a Kworld USB stick with the 4 inch magnetic aerial, that came with it, stuck to a metal desk beside a south-facing window. Signal is 100% in Raheny, Dublin.

    Cost 65 euro. in Maplin.

A friend in the radio business once told me that magnetic mount aerials became more efficient when attached to a metal base.
