Changing Servers

Hello all, complete Warcraft Newbie here,

But I have a question, both my GF and I have downloaded the 10 day trial (on seperate laptops) but for some reason my GF can only play on US and Oceanic servers, whereas I have the choice of all EU servers. We've tried to log onto the same server name (Killrog) but for some reason we can't see each other in the game. Are there seperate US and EU servers with the same name??

And is it easy to change from an EU to US server and vice versa???

Well is it possible you downloaded the trial one from the EU WoW site and one from the US WoW Site if so. That would probably have that effect.

I think if you edit you relamlist.wtf from us.relams.worldofwarcraft.com to eu.relams.worldofwarcraft.com that might work. But backup your relamlist.wtf (copy it to say My Documents) before you try it :)

First of all... welcome to Kilrogg! I'll be back playing my 60 paladin there next week, so poke Lakirby if you're alliance and need any assistance. :)

The US and EU servers are totally separate and there are no transfers between them. Just go on to wow-europe.com and download the trial there, or else just go buy a full copy of the game. It's only €17.99 in Gamestop at the moment.

<Lots of blah blah about accounts to sell. Against the charter, a big no no.>

Ye, I think this is what happened. She's re-downloading the EU version over night :)

And ye, I did that already but for some reason it keeps saying the USername and Password aren't valid. So I presume the US and EU servers are COMPLETELY seperate??

Thanks for that, I'd say I will definitely get in touch, because I'm completely lost about what to do, the game is SO HUGE!!!

Also that's a good tip about Gamestop, I was going to buy a retail copy in Game I think last week for €44 or something...
I have an EU WoW account that I'd be willing to part with.
Thanks for the offer, but I think I'm going to Level up a few char's to get used to how the game works, as I'm still learning all the in's and outs.

I have another couple of VERY newbie questions if people wouldn't mind humouring me.

    1. Can I log into my Trial account from any computer with WoW installed on it, I seem to be only able to do it from my Laptop where I installed the game. Is this one of the Trial game limitations or is it always the case.

    2. What Add-on's should I get. Are there any completely essential ones I need. I'll be getting the full game next week, so if they don't work with the Free trial version don't worry about it, and should I wait for the Burning Crusade game. Is it just be a Blizzard download/ update or is it a completely new game.

I think you quoted the wrong post about someone with an account to sell! :p (wasn't me!)

You *should be* able to log into your account from any computer with WoW installed. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to! Then again, when my account was a trial I only ever used my craptastic laptop.

Add-ons... I don't use any. Got to 60 without them. I probably should grab CTRaid though when I reinstall, my new guild requires it!

Burning Crusade - adds 2 new races (Draenei on Alliance and Blood Elves on Horde), adds a new profession (Jewelcrafting), a new continent (Outland), a new battleground (Eye of the Storm), lots of new dungeons and raid instances and raises the level cap to 70. It is a massive addition to the game but one nice thing you'll notice as a lower level (if you start now, you'll be roughly level 25-30 by Jan 16) once TBC comes out is that there'll be a lot more people levelling up when it comes out - so it'll be easier to find groups for the lower instances. I know I'm making a new character when TBC comes out - I'm going to the dark side! I'll be making a blood elf priest or paladin.

Cool thanks. (Sorry about the misquote) After the re-download, apparently it still only lets her into the US servers. So she bought 2 Retail Copies from Gamestop this morning, so hopefully that'll fix the problem. (hmmm talk about addicted already!!!)

    Anyway, thanks for the responses.

Just wanted to point out the she will probably have to create a totally new account on the EU site, if the one she has is mistakenly linked to a US one... I don't know but that's what I'm guessing.

Anyhow, this is also late, but if someone else is wondering, you can play any account (trial or full) from any computer with WoW installed. I played on two with my trial anyhow. :)

And it's good to see people who admit their addiction! ;)

She probably downloaded her trial from http://www.worldofwarcraft.com - the US site, while you got yours from http://www.wow-europe.com.
