    Hi,

Im having a problem, i have windows 2000 Service Pack 3 and whatever way i messed around my 2 hard drives by changing the master slave settings it now dosent pick up my dvd player. How should i set them up. If i go into my computer it just shows my 2 hard drives but not my dvd/cd rom player and if i go into the bios setup it says it recognises the 2 hard drives but the 3rd device it says: unknown device.

Everytime i start my pc an error comes up saying something about the device not being recognised too and i have to hit F1 to bypass this so basically what are the correct master/slave settings. Its a Dell Optiplex G70 with 2.60ghz/1.5gb ram

The two hard drives should be on the Primary IDE (marked on the motherboard where the cable is inserted to connect to the hard drives), the hard drive with your OS should be the master and the second hard drive should be the slave. Those two should be on the one cable.
The CD/DVD rom should be on the Secondary IDE (also marked on the motherboard) should be set as the master drive, that will be on its own cable unless you have some other drive there also. Thats the way mine is setup anyway.

Make sure the jumper settings on the rear of the drives are correct.
