    Hi all

I want to get my Guitar sounding sitar-like, as an example I suppose the solo in 'do it again' by Steely dan would be the sound I'm looking for. However I've tried all manners of effects and combinations and cant get that sound. Somebody even suggested to me that you have to put paper clips on the guitar strings but that didnt work at all. Any ideas anyone?

I used to get a very sitar-like sound using an old Boss SE-80, but it sounded a little too 'electronic' if you listened closely.

i saw some attachment that fit on behind your guitar bridge, and was removable in some guitar mag i bought years ago. i cant remember what it was called but it could turn an electric into a sitar sounding electric without digital trickery. i'll have a look for it. i think it might have been made by JHS, but i'm not quite sure.

Yes I saw something like that on ebay but was designed specifically for a telecaster. they look like little brass fittings that go under the strings at the bridge end. Unfortunately I have a strat and a les paul junior.

As for the swami pedal reviews for this are mixed.

The best thing really for me to have that sound seems to be to invest in one of these things. Anyone ever play one?

Screaming Tress used one of those on a song called Halo Of Ashes. What your average electric guitar lacks is resonating drone strings, which is where that yoke comes into its own.

    a roland midi pick up?
basically transforms the nothes you play into midi data and your roland pedal box has midi instruments built in and you can trigger piano sounds, drums, anything provided you have the midi instrument. not that accurate, well maybe theyre better now. pricey

There are guitars out there with a set of resonating strings built into the body, Perfect Pitch stock them from time to time, they look interesting. Don't know who makes them though.

Boss GT-Pro user here. The Sitar patch works well with plenty of tremolo!
