Why are you picking what cable to use before you pick your tv?

When using VGA you dont get 720p/1080i/1080p options, you get resolutions and and as long as it is over 1024x768 then it is HD.

This is exactly what you need to be looking out for 1280 x 720 is the equivalent to 720p and the 1920 x 1080 is the top of the range 1080p res. But if its a standard HD LCD TV it should be able to get 1366 x 768 which is kinda the standard res for HD LCDs that are out at the moment.

would probably do but you would get better monitors for cheaper then that look back for the thread that has the acer 19" wide screen monitor. 100 cheaper including shipping. Granted it aint a tv.

    what size is the tv?

You can get 1024x768 HD displays which use rectangular pixels, so if it's a widescreen display with that resolution it would qualify as HD display. Since its 15" its probably not widescreen

Would a 15" be too small for playin a 360 on it

How could it be a widescreen TV with a 4:3 aspect ratio?

like I said if the pixels aren't square you can get a tv with 1024x768 and 16:9, probably not that common, here's one model I heard of recently http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?storeId=15001&catalogId=13401&itemId=97743&modelNo=TH-42PX6U&cacheProgram=11002&cachePartner=7000000000000005702&surfModel=TH-42PX6U&catGroupId=24973&surfCategory=Plasma%2520TVs&displayTab=S

Yup most good graphics cards come with one or two of them.I must have about a dozen of them from the various radeons I have bought over the years!. They only cost a few euros in most good computers stores if you need one.

Not quite. They're only adapters. You have to be sure what you're talking about here.

Those little things only change the pin-out of the connector, if it was carrying an analog signal and you put it through one of those it's still gonna be carrying an analog signal.

If it's carrying a digital signal and oyu put it through one of those it's gonna be carrying nothing.

They should work. I think Kensutz uses one on his 360 IIRC
