Wii Play...?

    Hey,
Was just wondering what the story is with Wii Play. I went into Xtravision and they told me you have to buy it with a console. Are you not able to buy it seperately?

And if so, are they readily available or will I have to go anywhere specific to get my hands on one?

And sure while I'm at it, is it worth the buy?!

They had 12-15 or thereabouts on the shelf behind the counter in Smyths. I dont know if they are restricting the sale of them though as I bought mine with a console.

Ok so you get the remote and Wii Play for around 50? And then the nunchuck has to be bought by itself. How much is the remote by itself? I presume its worth paying the bit extra for Play?

The Remote is €45, and WiiPlay is €49.99 (well, in GameStop anyway) but I have seen it up as far as €59.99...

Considering an extra remote would set you back 45, you may as well pay the extra 5/10euro and get Play too

I think I saw the Wiimote on it's own for €50 and it with play is €54.99 so it's well worth it.

Make sure the Wii-mote is in stock before you get in the queue though, Game were all out of them when I was in the other day. It's a fair game for €5 but if you don't get the free controller you're wasting your time.

I thought it could ONLY be bought in a package.

Wii Play is not as good as Wii Sports and the games are extremely shallow. But for the €5 price difference its worth getting instead of the wii remote on its own.

Wii motes (around 10ish I saw anyway) and Wii Play (5-7) seem to be in stock in Gamestop on Liffey street, no nunchucks though.

Just picked Wii Play up today for €49.99 in Gamestop Liffey Street. They had another five or so in stock. If your close you could get in there now as they are open until 9pm

OP, I think whoever you were talking to got confused with Wii sports.

Yeah probably. Plus she was mumbling something about it not being released yet so I just thought feck this I'll go elsewhere.

Having bought and played it, it isnt the best but I guess its ok for the odd go. Thats it really...the games are just ok. Still worth the bit extra though.

I think Wii Play has some great multiplayer value to it. I was unimpressed when playing it on my own but when playing with a friend we had a great laugh. The Fishing was our favourite and just had to keep going back to it. For the price of it you really can't go too far.

Got one in Virgin Megastore in Cork yesterday for 54.99 with the wiimote.
All the other shops only had wii play on its own at 49.99.
Speaking of wii Sport , does anyone know why Game are selling that at 29.99 if it comes bundled with every wii?

Was in Smyths in Tallaght last night picking myself up some Wii Points and a classic controller, and they have quite a few copies of Wii Play too, in case anyone is still looking for it, or a classic controller (not seen many of those around.)

    Does it ? lol
When I was in Game on Saturday afternoon the man in front of me bought Wii Play for 49.99 and he didn't get a free remote, the girl didn't even mention a remote and there were loads of them behind her.
The one I got has the remote in the box already, the man in Game just had the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Yeah, I don't think Wii Play is meant to come without a remote, as it comes in a box with a remote. Thats the only reason its that price when its something that is only a few mini games.
