Hehe, Live Free or Die Hard - cheesy title ...but I like it!

Obviously it won't top the original (a Xmas classic ;)) but fingers crossed it'll be good.

I think we'd be hard pressed to find any movie to top the Orignal Die Hard.

Just found the IMDB entry and it says the film was written by Doug Richardson (of Die Hard 2 fame/shame - I thought this was the worst of the trilogy) but I live in hope...

Oooh... looks nice. Always one of my favourite trilogies becomes a quadriology. But where's the white vest? He's powerless without it.

Die Hard 2 'fame/shame'? Die Hard 2 was a bloody fantastic movie in my opinion, close enough to the first and infinitely better then the 3rd in my opinion, which in itself was a decent movie, just didn't fit in for me.

Die Hard 2 was originally the script for 'Commando 2', before it was slightly reworked for McClanes latest outing.

And now that someones mentioned it, Christmas just isn't Christmas without watching Die Hard.

I love the Die Hard Trilogy, the first Die Hard movie is probably the greatest action movie ever made. I just hope they get this right and dont ruin the Trilogy. I cant wait for it though!

The third was originally written as a Lethal Weapon movie too.

Hmmm I know it's only a teaser but it's not looking good to me. Lots of shots of Bruce kicking ass when what made the original so great was that he spent the whole movie getting HIS ass kicked. Bruce's strength is in playing human guys.

Can't see this working without McTiernan.

Agreed. What made DieHard and DieHard With a Vengence such a laugh was the desperation of Willis as he was blasted from one thing to another. The baddies were camply played by proper actors who chewed the scenery gloriously. And they were really funny!

This looks nothing like them. McClaine's been upgraded to cool leather jacket with ridiculous 'fast & the furious' style sh*t cgi stunts.

And it's got that little sh*t from the 'i'm a mac' ads.

Oh no way! That's the same guy?

The plot sounds awful anyway: John McClane vs internet terrorists? Give me a break.

Oh god it looks bad, Im a big fan of the trilogy but it doesn't seem to have the look of the others, nooooo

Have some faith. Both Willis and McTiernan are the producers - so they may have had some creative input (hopefully) :)

Meh after watching it it is not what i expected but
dont judge a movie by its trailer

Hmm doesn't feel right. McClaine should be beaten up and bloodied in the "Die Hard" movies and yet still be ready to deliver a whup-ass on the scenery-chewing villain. Glamour is not on!

Still, its only a teaser trailer so theres probably a longer, better one to come.

My only complaint with this trailer is its not xmas and Sinatra's "Let It Snow" aint playing in the background ;)

Im looking forward to this movie but the trailer sucked. Bruce willis imho is one of the best american action heros on film.

I really hope DH4 doesnt end up like hollywood homocide.

Have to disagree here, I really dont think Die Harder was a great movie.

A few things that bugged me:
McClanes wife on the plane and the reporter
Cop giving McClane a ticket (who turns out to be related to the cop in Die Hard)

    and then there's the Janitor.

Nah... I just doesn't do it for me.

Reasons why the original Die Hard is the best of the series:

    - Great lead actor/character and surprisingly well defined and human for an action flick.

    - Alan Rickman (Hans).. definitely a contender for Best Villian Ever.

    - Great supporting cast (Karl, Theo, Al and even Ellis).

    - Great dialogue and some of the most memorable lines in a movie.

    - Great music/score.

    - The action/language wasn't toned down like in Die Hard III (and a lot/most? movies nowadays in this cuddly, sensitive, PC world we now live in :(), which I didn't know was originally a Lethal Weapon script but on reflection seems obvious as it didn't feel like Die Hard - although it was a good movie in its own right.

    - Die Hard II was the poorest of the 3, but then William Sadler (very good in DS9 incidentially as Section 31's Agent Sloan) had some very big shoes to fill so was always gonna be up against it.

    and the top reason IMHO...

    - It (re)defined a genre.. accept no substitutes (Segal, I'm looking in your direction - Under Siege).

Original Die Hard is a great film. For me it sum’s up Christmas, been held up in a building against your will and fighting a gang of ruthless people, ah yes Christmas  …. Yippee-kay-ay mother fu….

Not much in the trailer for Die Hard 4 to make a call on what the film will be like.
There is a lot to live up to between Die Hard and Die Hard With a Vengeance .

Right off to unreg and post about my Christmas angst in PI.

Hey, I just saw the trailer for Mercury Rising 2: Rise Harder.........oh wait..

I agree with alot of what people are saying.

Though I loved Die Hard 3, apart from Pulp Fiction it is Samual Jackson's best duo role (him and Willis were priceless.)

But this trailer one thing struck very wrongly over all else.

    LOVE FREEDOM!

    ???

I'm sorry but John Mclane NEVER NEVER NEVER FIGHTS FOR FREEDOM, he fights for his wife, his job and because the bad guy p*ssed him off. (or vice versa)

The Villians are never out to destroy America they are out to get rich. If I hear a single line about a doomsday plot to destroy america I am walking out of the cinema.

Die Hard films are pure untainted action films, pure 80s where its all about money and explosions.

Course Die Hard 2 broke a few of those rules (what was with that foriegn general?) but it kept most of the attitude alive (they were rescuing him...FOR MONEY!) and it was the weakest of the three.

Also I heard scary rumours his daughter is the police woman running around with him.

Now when's the next Letheal weapon movie :D then next year will be perfect.
