    Hi guys

I was playing poker in Atlantic city last night and cashed in 100 dollar tourney. Now to call it winnings would be stretching the point i guess but i cashed for just under 1k dollars. Thing is, and i remember reading something about it on here about guys going to vegas, they held back a third in taxes on me and when i asked what i needed to do about getting the taxes back , nobody seemed to know, evidently they didnt give a fk from what i could see. Now I am back in philly and wont be going back down to AC but if anyone has any advice on what I need to do or should have done, it would be appreciated,

    Cheers

    Mike

You need an ITIN number. [Pronounced Aye Tin] Take your passport along to a good casino or an IRS agency office and they will be able to sort it out for you. Claiming back the money they've witheld will probably take time but once you have your ITIN number you won't have the same problem again. Any of the casinos that hold WPT or WSOP tourneys will know what you need.

thats the thing though, i was in the borgata ,and the floor supervisor maintained he hadnt done one before, and the cage manager wanted actual proof of my number. Now I suspect that number is the same as my pps but they werent buying it so i just left it and said i would resolve it later on. They did say that the IRS at the airport might take my word on the number but basically it looked like too much hassle for them, all over three hundred bucks. I was amazed when the supervisor said he hadnt filled out that type of form but what can you do I guess

    Thanks for the reply

AFAIK the first $16,000 or $19,000 is tax free anyway. So why arre they holding any back???

The forms you need are all available online. Search a few of the WSOP threads here and you'll find the links to them.

to be honest they seemed like fking donkeys in the Borgata. My player card wouldnt work, then they issued a second one, that didnt work. It worked on the slots alright for some reason, and you know the yanks , any deviation and its carnage, they couldnt have given less of a fk if they tried, which made me dig my heels in more, though it mattered not a jot. Will trawl those wsop ones ty
