Fitz last night, details a bit sketchy

    Suits don't matter. (all rainbow)

    1/2 PL Hold'em
    I have ~350
    Villain has about the same

    Dealt KQ Pre-flop.
    Raise to 6/7 in MP
    4 callers

    Flop Q-9-4
    I lead for €20,
2 callers to my left, others fold.

    Turn Q-9-4-7
    I lead for €25,
    1 fold, 1 call

    River Q-9-4-7-8
    I check,
    Villain bets €50
    I.....?

Not too much info on villain at this point, but have seen him go to showdown having called PF raises with weak starting hands, doesn't seem to be the savviest player in the world. or even at the table.

if you're gonna bet the turn bet more. fitz players love draws, he prob has j10. You don't beat much anyway. Only thing in your favour is you're getting 3/1 on your money, fold.

Do u know the name of the player?

yeah, that was kind of a weak bet, how much would you say i should have bet?

from the way he was playing, J10 was the only hand i could really put him on i thought. he seemed pretty interested in the next card.

I called, but i didn't take enough time to think hard about it...if i'd taken more time i probably would have folded

    and he had J10

no, but i don't think he was a regular, i could be wrong, but there were people there who i know were regulars who were all chattin away, he wasn't saying much...

Pot's too much imo. I would have thought 50-70.

Betting less than the pot is good if he calls, we want him to call as long as he is making a mistake doing so, so betting the max that we think he will call(as long as he is making a mistake doing so) is optimal.

Shane, I really disagree. The more you bet the more you will maximise your fold equity - which is what we want. We want to take it down on the turn.

Also, if they want to pay for a draw (and they will in the Fitz) make them pay as much as possible.

When I am playing live in Dublin, 4 out of 5 times I will bet the pot when betting unless I have a lock hand against an unattentive donk and lower betsizing is the best way to extract value.

I understand your point. But I prefer people to call me on a draw at the wrong price.

i was actually amazed at the poor standard of play last nite, not from everyone of course but from some people who had so much more money than i, and were reloading like there was no today, and really playing poor, -EV, and worst of all outdraw-y poker.
and also at how loose the players were, i couldn't believe some of the hands being turned up at showdown, calling big bets all the way through, and then something like this happens on the river:

    four spades on board, and
Player A bets say €100 which is 2/3 the pot,
    Player B calls,

    Player a shows Jc3s,
    Player b shows 4s8s

I'm sitting there having folded As9c preflop thinking wtf??

I sat tight, folding, and anytime i got a big hand i still got paid off!
And when i bluffed they would fold, going "oh he had it, definitely",
then later, big hand again, they pay me off!

In summary, I will be returning to the Fitz

That's actually what I did, that's what I meant when i said this:

I just felt that was a bad decision, so was trying to make myself look a bit better!:o No more quasi-honesty in the future I promise!

Thing is, although I did insta-call, I felt afterwards that if I had taken the time to decide properly, I probably would have folded, because J10 was the only hand I could reasonably imagine him playing the way that he did, due to reads during the hand and past hands etc.

Your turn bet sizing is pretty bad, as has already been stated
