did anybody work out does this have an AUX IN ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 124 ✭✭JayV

No. I bought one this morning and it only has a USB connection. I'm planning to connect my MP3 player using this. I'll let you know if it works.

Jayv, I'd really appreciate that. I so nearly bought one but the lack of aux in kind of put me off, as I wasnt sure how good the usb encoder would be when I connected my mp3 player

I was reading the Lidl sterio manual this evening with regard to the usb connection. It only mentions about a USB stick - nothing about mp3 or ipod connections.

Fine sterio for the price though

I think i'll wait on for Aldi sterio to go on sale again with the aux in

I just installed one in my car, super super unit. Sound is very clear and crisp, bluetooth handsfree works 100%.

Now for USB, I have an external 2.5" Hard Drive caddy, I tried a few different formats and this is what I discovered:

Primary NTFS: Doesn't work at all
Logical NTFS Drive: Doesn't work at all
Primary Fat Drive: works up to 2 gig
    Logical Fat Drive: Doesn't work
Primary Fat32 Drive: Works 100% up to 20 gig
    Logical Fat32 Drive: Doesn't work

So most MP3 players should work as they will have FAT or FAT32 formats.

Haven't tried the SD/MMC slot yet.

    irish1, thanks.

Did it play your mp3s (fat32) through usb without any problems, or was it a bit hit and miss?

I take it lidl continue selling their specials until they're sold out, rather than for one day only?

Played them perfectly, allowed me to search through folders without any problems and displayed the TAG ID.

I had about 50 folders with about 800 songs on the hard drive and flicked through folders and songs without seeing any problems at all.

The sound quality is excellent and I'm comparing it to some very good head units I have used e.g. Sony, Pioneer.

Just quick update, I used a 512mb SD card this morning with about 100 songs and it worked perfectly, played MP3's and WMA's.

Oh and I like the record function, I recorded from the radio straight to the SD card and the quality was excellent, be very handy for Gift Grub etc.

    what car do you have?
I have a Vectra 98 and the connector is a bit different
it has 3 blocks of connectors and this stereo only has 2 blocks
what can I do to solve this? can I get an extension or an adaptor that allow me to connect the 2 I want (I believe the one on top is the one that sends the controls from the driving wheel)

I have a Subaru Legacy, German cars normally have a different connection alright, you have two options, cut the connections off the radio and hard wire the connections or buy an adapter kit in a motor store this would be the best option, halford should be able to sort you out.

I went the destructive way and whack off the bit that was not letting me to plug it to my stereo
A kitchen serrated knife did the job easily and not too badly
    Happy days now!

Just got my one installed yesterday, I was wondering what kind of HDD case did you use, does the usb connection supply enough power or did you need an extra power source?

The usb connection supply is enough to power it.

Anyone know if any of the stores have any left??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭quilmore

I have an issue, everytime I switch the car off all memories are gone
So, probably is the connector that has the permanent and the accessories cables swapped
i went to have a look at lunch time and when I opened the front of it the latch that keeps it up came out
now if I need to press any button I have to keep it up with my fingers, not very useful, I'll try to get it fixed on its warranty
I was so p*ssed off with this that I didn't check on the connector

I think I saw some in walkingstown branch 2 nights ago, not many thou

Do Lidl have store phone numbers (the general freephone number is only Mon to Fri) so I can ring to check if they still have these in stock?

I'd like to get one tmw (Sunday) but I don't fancy driving around to lots of Lidls on Christmas eve:)

No Lidl numbers are in the book. Where are you located?
