Can anybody enlighten me as to the following. We are a family of 8 going to Austria skiing for the first time from 23rd. Dec to 30th. Dec. Everything is paid for! However, no snow! Do we get a refund for Learn to Ski pack if snow does not materialise by then?

    Thanks.

The slopes will be covered in fake snow.

Check your insurance for Piste closure cover.

The fake snow can only be pumped out at -4 degrees and it is quite warm all over Europe at the mo so dont count on there being fake snow.

If you have prepaid for your ski package then you need to check with your ski company as to what their procedure is. Read the small print in the back of the brochure.

If there happens to be no snow then there is still plenty to do in Austira. Lots of wellness centres with spas and the like, ice rinks, swimming pools, lovely walks, visit Innsbruck or Salzburg which ever you are closest to and drink the Gluhwein and Jagertee!!

I am sure you will have a lovely time.

Thanks for the reply. I really don't mind if there is no snow for skiing as I am a little apprehensive about it in any case! I am looking forward to visiting Salszburg and doing the touristy thing! A friend of mine said the one of the best tours he was on in Salsz was the "Sound of Music" Tour! Just to get away from the madness of excessive shopping and madness in this country is one of the reasons we are going!!! So all in all, am looking forward to it! However, with regard to the learn to ski pack, I have emailed the tour operator to get the low down! After all, 8x€200 is a lot of dosh!

What resort are you going to?
This page will tell you how much snow there is at the resort and if it's open or not. If the resort is not on there then it's almost definitely closed still.

It was predicted to get a lot colder here towards the end of this week but that hasn't happened. As it is at the moment i'm looking out at blue skies that would put an irish summer to shame! The temperatures have been creeping slowly downwards though in the last few days but unfortunately not fast enough.

It sure is a lot of cash!!!

I hope you manage to get it sorted and have a great holiday!

I hope the snow situation improves by March when I head off!!

There is snow forecast afaik for this weekend. I was skiing there in Schladning (sp?)last Friday. Was also in Salzburg last week, lovely time altogether...

Maybe the operator could accomodate you on another resort???
