Quick Sky question

Hi all, I was thinking of taking out a Sky subscription instead of cable. They told me that if I can get somebody to recommend me I won't have to pay for the boxes or the installation so long as I sign up before fri 15th December.
Thats not a problem as my brothers both have Sky and can recommend me.
I was hoping to take out multi-room with Sky+ in the living room and ordinary Sky in the kids room. The girl at Sky told me that both boxes must be plugged in to the telephone, not a problem in the living room as the phone socket is beside the TV but in the second room there is no telephone socket and the nearest one is 'miles' away in another room.
My question is how do I get around this problem?
I don't really want to run an extra phone socket into this room as its just been decorated (so the mrs won't let me!).
Any suggestions? Can I get away with not having the second box plugged in?
    Thanks

No, you can't get away from not having the second box plugged in. SKy will plague you with reminders and threats etc to reconnect the phoneline.

You could get a One For All DECT wireless phoneline extender. They are about €90 though.

Never heard of one of those, where could I find one?

How about if I ran an extension cord from the box to the phone socket in the next room while the installer was there and then unplugged it after he left? Would it still work or what would happen?

No use. Sky will make the box "call home" now and again. If it fails, the threats start. You must have it connected to the 2nd box at all times.

If you have more than one line, they must be on the same one.
